Making a Decision

Are you ready to make that next step in giving your life to Jesus? Do you want to know what being a Christian is all about?

See our simple guide below.

  • God loves us

God loves us so much that he was willing to give his own son, Jesus to die in our place.

1 John 3:16 says: "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us."

God is our creator. In Psalm 139:13 it says "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." You are the work of His hands, His own creation and nothing you or anyone else may do can change that fact or His love for you.

  • We all mess up

    We all mess up

Romans 3:23 says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. The word ‘Sin’ means to ‘miss the mark’ or ‘fail to reach the goal’. The Bible tells us that ‘the goal’ is to ‘love God’ and ‘love others’. So, sin is the failure to love God and love others. It is the part of us that chooses to put ourselves above God and above others.

The Bible tells us that sin separates us from God. In the Old Testament we see that anyone who tried to enter God’s presence in their sinfulness would die. Therefore, an animal would be sacrificed as a substitute for their own life so that they could enter his presence.

  • Jesus died for us

God loved us so much that he sent his son to earth to offer his own life as the ultimate sacrifice for our sin.

John 3:16-17 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Death was no match for Jesus and three days later he rose again. 40 days later, Jesus ascended into heaven, leaving us with the Holy Spirit so that God’s presence could be with us always.

  • Our choice

    Our choice

But now we have to decide if we want to accept this gift of forgiveness, this promise of eternal life. God will never force us to live in relationship with him. We can go on choosing to live under the power of sin or we can choose to let him into our hearts and lives. The decision is ours.

A Prayer to Pray

If you are ready to make a decision to give your life to Jesus, here is a prayer you can pray:

Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me into a relationship with the Father. I choose now to turn from every part of my life that does not please you and that falls short of who you have created me to be. I choose you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Saviour and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life. Amen
